I'm sorry, I don't see it. Does one have to be there walking around the piece in order to see the effect? All I see is that they're all in a set order with all the shapes being placed in a singular row. I do see the three rows of each shape but do you have to move around the exhibit to see it? I'm not much into art especially sculptured artwork, but given there is not any other works present in the room, all I see is $$$$$. That large of a showcase would be very expensive to undertake, makes me wonder how long it was on display for...It's very interesting none the less!

Artist's Description

As one moves about Walter De Maria’s “The 2000 Sculpture” as recently seen at the Los Angles Country Museum of Art, the geometric patterns change almost as if viewing the art through a kaleidoscope. The sculpture is composed of three polygon shapes each less than 5 inches high, five-, seven- and nine-sided polygons. It is 20 pieces wide and 100 pieces long. And there is a repeating pattern-- 5, 7, 9, 7, 5.
